The variety of storytelling speakers & the amazing impact of their stories. Such a range of approaches the storytellers used. So impactful, time just flew.
Really made me think about how we don’t really know what’s goes on under the surface. Being non-judgemental is so important as is being kind and compassionate, not things all always remember. Take a min before you react, you never quite know what others are going through, even on your worst day.
Wholeheartedly, you never know what stories will be shared, some hit home more than others, however all have the power to connect, look at what matters most to yourself and others. Amazing sessions ran by a fabulous team that really understand what it means to share stories & support individuals.

However, this became unacceptable when I got to Secondary school, and it is around this time my mental health really dipped. Jan: Self doubtSelf doubtJan has always loved a good story. She used to dream about being able to write one. But, because she could never tell a story – say once upon a time then make it up on the spot until they all lived happily ever after – she believed that she didn’t have an imagination. So she didn’t try writing one until she was forty, when she took a risk and put pen to paper. Jan’s own story is about the ways she’s found to overcome her self doubt and how doing it anyway makes her happy. |
Dave: Evaluating childhoodEvaluating childhoodThe pandemic has given Dave the chance to think back about aspects of his childhood he’s never understood such as why the age gap between him and his brother, why his parents bring up their two boys in a one bedroom flat and why he cried so much. While not yet finding an answer to these questions, Dave chatted to us about how all this has both hindered and helped him since. |
Kim: Creating a businessCreating a businessKim talked about how some of her life and work experiences have brought her to a place in her life where she was able to create a business. The storyteller was so open, honest and powerful. The facilitator was really great at supporting, leading the questions to gain even more clarity and managing the questions from the others. You would have never known it was the first time doing it on zoom.
I enjoyed the words used to describe his story, the light bulb moment and the need to be confident in one’s own abilities, it is ok to say no, that you cannot be there for everyone and that it is ok to concentrate on something that you are really good at and do it to the full.

Brilliant initiative. Great opportunity to listen to real people’s lives Very moving but comforting that others feel the same way. All the speakers were very brave.
What an interesting, moving, and even though it’s not quite the right word, entertaining evening. So unusual and such a privilege to hear such personal stories – the honesty and bravery of the speakers was inspiring.
The event was inspiring. Hearing how life has not always been easy but how people have learned, or are still learning, to cope and be positive. Well done everybody.

Rejection, broken relationships and a search for deeper meaning and identity, have led Michael to a place of realisation and greater awareness of himself and others. Ultimately his lifelong journey of self-emptying and reliance on something beyond himself and a desire to reconnect others to the source of love and goodness in the universe, is currently lived out through growing vegetables! |

Back to folklore, a great way to learn about being human. I got so much from the evening and will be reflecting on tonight for a long while.
I thoroughly enjoyed the eve and really enjoyed the experience of sharing. Quite a special evening for me so thank you Debs and Daisy for encouraging me to speak up.
All the lives heard were so varied and real and heartwarming. The ups and downs of life well expressed! BRILLIANT!

I love how open everyone (Speakers and audience!) were about the importance of mental health and how normal it is to be at the negative end of the spectrum.
My husband and I have been through a difficult journey with illness and security issues. We often just cry together but we love each other and your event made us feel lucky to have you to support us to be brave. Keep going and don’t stop your amazing event.
I felt good knowing that I am not alone and it was a great reminder that I do not have to face it alone.

It felt such a safe place, even though it was a group made up of all ages I would have been comfortable talking to anyone in the room.
Each story was very personal and so encouraging to hear how they had managed to come through some very difficult times with such a positive attitude for the future.
The event made me feel that with the right belief in ourselves and a mindset that says “I can give this a try” we can all accomplish so much.

Being honest and open prevents a lot of loneliness and the feeling of isolation and ‘only one’ feelings.
It was an honour to be part of such a wonderful night. Beautiful evening of honesty and hope.
What really shone through was the need for women to support each other and to speak out/up for themselves.
