Can you tell me the weirdest thing you believed as a child?

So I’m not sure this is that weird, but I did keep believing it until relatively recently… That it’s illegal to turn the lights on inside a car when you’re driving. I don’t entirely know what I thought was going to happen or how the police would know but it really stuck with me!

Thanks mum!

What’s your job title at Touch, and how long have you worked here?

I’m the operations manager, my role is really varied which I love. I look after the team and make sure everyone is ok but I also help out with the other aspects of Touch too. One week I can be helping out with comms and the next week I’ll be helping the event champs with a venue. I’m sort of here to help out whoever needs me!

What does a day in your job look like?

I usually work from home so first order of the day is a cuppa… you really can’t start the day without a tea! Then I had to my little office/craft room and get cracking!

First up is email checking and replying to anything that needs my attention. Then I have a look at my to-do list spreadsheet and see what needs doing. I usually have a few things on the go at once but I find this works quite well as I can pick what I think I can do best on a particular day. At some point my cats will come in and say hello… so obviously I then reposition myself so they don’t have to move from my desk 😊

I’m quite often out and about catching up with the team a few times a week and I really love seeing people face to face, and I’m definitely becoming an expert on the best iced coffee around Southampton!

It’s Monday morning (or whenever your working week starts!) – what makes you excited to get out of bed?

I’m trying to start my days with a little walk or run to get some fresh air and stretch my legs before I sit at my desk, it’s such a lovely way to start the day! Especially when it’s nice weather, I pop some music or a podcast on and get going!

What helps you when you’re having a bad day?

I really love running and cycling and these are like my own version of therapy, so I usually head out for a run with some loud music on. After that it’s lots of tea and biscuits and my favourite Netflix shows! Oh and cat cuddles.

What have you done in your life that you’re most proud of?

A few years ago I saw the Southampton half marathon taking place and got completely swept up in it, and signed up to it the next day, after not having run since school. I completed it with a friend on what ended up being a ridiculously hot April day, after we’re trained through snow and cold weather. It was hard but the atmosphere kept me going, and the feeling of crossing the finish line was amazing… as was the pizza I inhaled after!

And finally: What’s the best sandwich you’ve ever eaten?

I’m a sucker for a club sandwich, I tried the one at Josie’s yesterday and it was SO GOOD! The chicken was fried buttermilk chicken and the bacon was cooked perfectly, and it had garlic mayo too. 10/10 would recommend. My mouth is watering thinking about it!
