Celebrating our stories!

We run storytelling celebration nights in coffee shops, bars, restaurants and other interesting and sociable places! Often wine and nibbles are part of the ticket price and we invite local communities to come and have a different kind of good night out where they can connect with real life stories.

Usually there are four speakers, talking for 10-20 minutes each about how they have, or are, overcoming personal struggles such as managing mental health difficulties, balancing family life, coping with the loneliness, dealing with grief, facing gender issues or cultural challenges and much more. Speakers are supported to focus on the good things about their story, such as what they learnt or how they moved forward.

All stories are intended to be real and honest, but also are hopeful and positive with a focus on overcoming, so if you come to an event you can expect to come away feeling touched and inspired!

We are very grateful to the Big Lottery Fund for the grant they have given us towards running some of our events.

NEXT EVENTS:

We are excited to announce some new events over the next few months. We will hold 2 Storytelling Events at Central Hall, St Mary Street, Southampton, SO14 1NF from 7.30pm-9.30pm (dates below). We will be able to socially distance safely at Central Hall and will be using ‘silent disco’ headsets again to ensure that everyone can hear at a distance. For all our safety, we would ask that you wear a mask if it is appropriate. We will have masks and hand sanitiser available.

Tickets will cost £5 per person with a coffee/tea and a cake and you do need to pre-book; unfortunately no walk-ins can be admitted. There is a ‘no questions asked’ free option if needed – just book a ticket below.

We are also organising ‘Mini Storytelling Events’ which will take place on Zoom. The Mini Events will consist of a host introducing a speaker, then we will all have a brief chance to chat online together. The Mini Storytelling Events will last approximately 30 minutes so we hope you will be able to join us during your lunch hour!

The list of dates is listed below. Please click the link(s) for each date you would like to join us – either on Zoom or in person at Central Hall:-

Wednesday 28th October – 7.30pm – Central Hall book your ticket.

Our speakers will be sharing their stories of overcoming their struggles during the pandemic and no doubt other themes will emerge from this.

For those who have not been to one of our events before, the stories will be about overcoming life’s challenges; they will be real and honest, but also hopeful and positive so you can expect to come away feeling touched and inspired!

As always, thank you for your support and we hope to see you at one of our Mini Storytelling Events on Zoom and/or at our actual Storytelling Events at Central Hall.
